Into our seventh month and we have our first swimmer to reach 500Km's. Congratulations go to Steven Sexton, who since the challenge has started has swum just over 569Km's. That's a great effort! But no-one should be resting on their laurels - there are a number of swimmers splashing close to Steven's fins, and the competition in the middle and lower parts of the pack is just as fierce.

All up in the last seven months we have swum a distance of 5817Km's, about a third of our way to swimming around NZ (15,134 km's)

If you haven't started putting your distances in yet, it's not too late to join in and help out.  Any distances you have swum in the last 7 months can be included. Indeed this month we have had more new people join in, some adding large distances to the total. So go ahead and challenge yourself to increase those lengths, and see just how far you can swim.

Participation is easy. Log onto the website (NZMS members only), and click on the menu item under the Health and Fitness menu. Each time you swim some lengths after the 1st May 2008, just add up the distance and submit it online - and that's it. Results are summarised monthly here on the website.
