Hosting Sanctioned and Championship Events Print E-mail
There are two types of meets that clubs must register with NZMS, before they can be hosted:

  • Championship Events - these are national meets, for which clubs host on behalf of NZMS
  • Sanctioned meets - these are meets that clubs choose to run themselves
Swimmers are only able to set officially recognised times at sanctioned or championship meets.


Clubs may also run non sanctioned meets, but times swum at these events will not be eligible for New Zealand records

Championship Events

Bids to hold scheduled Championship Events should be submitted by Clubs or Regions to the National Secretary at least 18 Months prior to the year of the event, and should include details such as dates, venue and programme format. A championship fee will be charged at the following rates:

National Long Course Championships $500.00 Incl GST
North and South Island Long and Short Course Championships $350.00 incl GST
 New Zealand Masters Games $350.00 incl GST
National Open Water Championships $350.00 incl GST

 

The fees cover administrative costs and gives the club, entitlement to use the Meet Manager Software for the duration of the meet. Entry forms are now placed on the website, and must be sent to the webmaster in electronic format. A template is available from either the webmaster or secretary.


Once bids for championship events are accepted, they will be published on the website, and all bidders notified of the outcome of their bid.

Sanctioned Meets

Requests to hold sanctioned meets should be made to the secretary at least 6 months prior to the date of the event. Requests must include details of the event including venue, date, and programme format.

Fees for sanctioned meets are $200.00incl GST. The fees cover administrative costs and gives the club, entitlement to use the Meet Manager Software for the duration of the meet. Entry forms are now placed on the website, and must be sent to the webmaster in electronic format.
