Please note Event 27 (Open Water Swim) is not part of the official 6 events.
Gisborne Masters are looking forward to hosting fellow Masters from around NZ for a first for us; a National event. So, you be the judge, this is what’s happening:
Friday – Anyone arriving in Gisborne with time to spare might like to join Ingrid at Bushmere Estate, a local winery at 166 Main Road, on SH2, for lunch at 1.00 pm. See www.bushmere.com for more information and contact the winery direct to book a table. (06 8589317) Shona would appreciate advance notice of bookings.
Friday evening -- after Swim Drinks will be available across the road from the pool at “On the Beach”.
Saturday -- Apart from the fantastic PB’s, records, and exhausting mystery relay, there will be Socialising, Fraternisation, and Friendship.
We have booked “On the Beach” right across the road from the Pool.
Come dressed ‘For the Beach’ and enjoy an “extensive” smorgasbord dinner, then boogie the night away to DJ Ash. He says put your favourite dance tune on the bottom of your entry form: he won’t guarantee he’ll play them all, but you may be lucky.
Saturday Lunch (Beef & salad Bun) will be available at ‘on The Beach’. They also serve good coffee and have bar facilities.
Sunday -- Open Water Swim – this will be held immediately after the last pool event. It is a fun event with spot prizes. Enter by donation to the Midway Surf Club on the day. Wetsuits optional, even recommended in early Nov. We cannot promise a visit from Moko, Mahia’s friendly dolphin, but who knows.
We hope to organise a triangular course of approx. 1500m , with an option for ‘nervous’ or first timers being able to head home after the 1st buoy.
Then its time for our friendly swimming Butcher, Fletcher Pickett of Balance St. Butchery to show what he can do on the BBQ, along with prize giving.
Accommodation. We listed the 4 closest Motels to the Pool and Beach in the MAY Masterscrawl. Also the
